Mac Arts invites creatives to be part of an exciting new project developing lockdown work

Mac Arts will support 12 selected creatives in the further development of work started in lockdown with the aim of programming the completed work in our 2021/22 schedule.
Mac Arts has become a hub for creativity in the arts in the Scottish Borders and beyond, and aims to program work of the highest calibre, and will support artists in adapting their practice to the unique challenges we currently face. Covid-19, and the necessary lockdown measures brought with it, have forced the cancellation and postponement of the majority of our events. Whilst Mac Arts has been able to continue certain activities, uncertainty over the coming months poses serious questions for how venues and charities working in the arts and education can adapt to remain relevant and viable, and most importantly continue to serve and support the artists and communities we have all worked so hard to provide with access to high-quality arts and music-making opportunities.
With this project we hope to do exactly that, providing a platform for the development and presentation of new work,
One of the main aims of the project is to support artists in adapting to new ways of working and presenting work, exploring the processes and mediums available, recorded audio/video, audio with accompanying imagery and text. We are particularly keen to support innovative approaches to presenting work digitally.
We are inviting applications from artists and performers living in Scotland, to express their interest in taking part in this project.
  • We will select 12 creatives from a broad range of disciplines and we would encourage collaborations between artists.
  • The project must be completed and presented by 28th Feb 21.
  • Mac Arts will cover development cost of up to £300 per creative.
  • Mac Arts will engage freelance staff to carry out recording of work and digital presentation. We would like to carry out most of the recording in Mac Arts unless it is practical to carry out on site recording. (Covid19 travel restrictions will need to be observed)

Please send a short CV including links to examples of your work and a short covering note explaining why you would like to take part. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: 5pm Friday 18/12/2020
