The Strangers
The Strangers were a young band from Jedburgh in 1964/66. They played locally in the Borders but never for Duncan Mackinnon’s Border Dances,
Alex Cowie (vocals)
Peter Irvine (organ)
David McBain (rhythm guitar)
Kenny Roberts (drums)
Colin Russell (bass guitar)
Chris Veitch (lead guitar) who was replaced by
Gordon Baron (lead guitar)
Peter Irvine went on in later life (as Pete Irvine) to co-found the Regular Music music promotion company and later, Unique Events which emerged out of Regular Music. He became one of the most influential figures in the tourism and events industry in Scotland bringing many big name acts to play here. He is well known for being part of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Festival which he was involved with for many years and his travel guide ‘Scotland the Best’ is still one of Scotland’s best selling travel guides
